Recognizing Creative Excellence in Jordan’s advertising industry since the year 2000: Jordan Advertising Awards 2009 to be held on October 3rd

Amman, September 9th, 2009 – MediaScope and ArabAd have announced that the 6th edition of the Jordan Advertising Awards (JAA) will take place on October 3rd, 2009 at the Four Seasons Hotel.

First held in the year 2000, The Jordan Advertising Awards 2009 is endorsed by the International Advertising Association (IAA) – Jordan Chapter and is the only award ceremony that celebrates and rewards the creativity and talent of advertising companies across the Kingdom.

With the advertising industry witnessing an impressive growth over the past few years, with expenditures in 2008 having reached a record $303 million and the first half of 2009 witnessing a surprising growth compared to the same time last year, this year’s Jordan Advertising Awards has generated considerable support, despite the prevailing economic conditions.

Zeid Nasser, Managing Director of MediaScope and JAA organizer, stated, “The Jordan Advertising Awards was created to honor an absolute standard of creative excellence in advertising and marketing communications originating in Jordan. The event has acquired credibility through its neutrality and independence and has reflected the growth in Jordan’s advertising and media industries throughout the past decade, as the number of entries grew from one ceremony to the next, adding new participants every year as JAA remains the sole creative award ceremony serving the country. This year’s event builds on this success, with nearly 30 participating companies and over 550 entries in the competition.”

The JAA 2009 is open to all Jordan-based Advertising Agencies, Design Houses, Production Houses and BTL/Direct Marketing Companies and covers all advertisements and BTL, published or aired between August 1st, 2007 and August 31st, 2009. The deadline for submitting entries into the competition was September 3rd, 2009, and the organizers have reported impressive participation.

The JAA 2009 gala night is expected to bring together nearly 700 top advertising and media professionals to witness Jordan’s advertising agencies and design houses winning awards in over 50 categories, covering all product and service categories. The winners are selected by a panel of specialists made up of Jordanians and foreign jurors, who review and judge the entries during the week before the gala event.

This year, the Platinum sponsor of the event is Al Rai, Jordan’s leading daily newspaper and largest media organization. Gold sponsors of the event are Al Faridah for Specialized Publications, Al Kawn for Advertising, Hills Advertising and also Al Rai Al E’lania. Silver sponsors of the event are Ipsos, The National Press, Dots Pro, Behind The Scenes and Grapheast.

“Full information on previous ceremonies of the Jordan Advertising Awards and this year’s event, including results as of the 4th of October, will be available at jordanadvertisingawards.com,” added Nasser.

This premiere advertising event was first organized by ArabAd and MediaScope in 2000, and was followed by successful ceremonies in 2001, 2003, 2005 and 2007.
